Hi there!

My name is Kira Grissom and I am an artist from Oklahoma City.

A little bit about me: I grew up in Oklahoma and in 2013 I left the red dirt and tornadoes behind for a while and moved to Boston, where I  earned a bachelor's degree in Animation and Motion Media from Emerson College in 2016. After that, I spent some time working in Los Angeles, and now I am back in Oklahoma continuing to freelance and make art for myself.

Much of my current work is digital illustration; however, I also enjoy working with a wide variety of media both 2D and 3D including Videography, Photography, Pen and Ink, Watercolor, Acrylic Painting, Ceramics, 3D and 2D computer animation, Motion Graphics, and Graphic Design.

My art is often character-driven and I like to try to tell a story even if it's just a stand-alone illustration. What I choose to draw is often a reflection of how I may be feeling at a given moment, my interpretation of what may be going on in the world, or simply evidence of my love for illustrating intimate scenes of life. My goal is to have the viewer look at my art and have them think a little bit more about it-- to be immersed in the moment, to imagine what the character might be thinking or feeling, to consider the character’s story (and by extension their own story)--rather than just scrolling (or strolling) by. 

Art to me is a means of engaging and connecting with others by sharing myself and experiences through fictional characters and their stories.  With that in mind, I would love to have the opportunity to be involved in creating art for animated tv shows, movies and games. Ultimately, I hope to advance to a leadership position in the art production pipeline where I will eventually be able to create my own series of works, while also helping others achieve their vision. It is important to me to be someone who uplifts other artists in my community and to support students who want to learn to create their own projects. Also: I just want to make cool stuff as much as possible!
